Twin-Face Sheepskin is one single piece of sheepskin that is sheep fur on one side and sheep skin on the other. It's one piece with two faces, so it's called "twin-face." Twin-face sheepskin boots usually cost more than boots using suede on the outer side. If we refer to boots as "premium sheepskin," we mean that the boots are twin-face sheepskin. Twin-face sheepskin is very gentle, soft, and delicate, often making them somewhat more comfortable than other non-twin-face kinds of sheepskin boots. In addition, the fur inside twin-face sheepskin boots can flatten and mold to your foot. When you're buying twin-face sheepskin boots, it is recommended that you buy a size that fits snugly. You don't want your boots so tight that you feel pressure points on your toes, as that could cut-off circulation. You want the boots to fit your feet snugly because over time the fur will shape and mat down to fit your feet like big comfortable socks.

The alternative to twin-face shepskin is to adhere suede outers or pigskin outers to the sheepskin fur, which is a less expensive way of making boots. Bearpaw is a brand that uses this method of making sheepskin boots. By using other materials on the outside, much of the shaven wool from the sheep can be used. Although this alternative method is usually cheaper, it has advantages as well.

The more supple sheepskin on the outside can make twin-face sheepskin boots a little more difficult to clean. Suede outers, on the other hand, can be scrubbed thoroughly, which make them a great choice for kids. Suede is usually more durable on the outside, does not look much different from the smoother twin-face sheepskin and it is not 100% pure sheepskin. The term "happy sheepskin" is a phrase people sometimes use to describe the boots with suede outers because they can use wool that has been shaven from the sheep.
Although twin-face is much softer on the outside and molds to your feet better than sheepskin with suede outers, it is difficult to tell apart from suede when looking from a normal distance. A good example of this is trying to compare the Emu Classic Stinger Sand, which is twin-face sheepskin, with the Emu Bronte Hi Sand, which has suede outers. If you were to see two women walking down the street, each wearing the different Emu boots, you probably couldn't tell the difference. However, when looking more closely, you can notice that the twin-face sheepskin has a more rich, soft texture. Can you tell which Emu is twin-face and which one is made of suede outers? As you can see, the only way to tell the twin-face sheepskin apart is that it has a slightly more rich and smooth texture. While suede outers also give you the comfort of sheepskin fur on the inside, twin-face will give you more of a real sheepskin boot experience, especially since they mold to your feet over time.
The original UGG boots were always made using twin-face sheepskin.
